WANTED:  Parents committed to advocating for every child, supporting every educator, empowering every parent.

CRITERIA:  No experience necessary.  We will be there with you every step of the way.  If your position needs training, we will provide it.

BENEFITS:  The opportunity to continue to be involved with your student's education even during the high school years.

Our PTSA Board has several vacant committee chair positions.  In order to function as effectively as possible, it is crucial that those positions be filled as soon as possible.  Perhaps we can entice you to take on one of the following:

CAC Chair/County CAC Rep (May be one or two positions):  The State of Maryland has mandated that all schools have a committee to address local school concerns and issues.  At the county level, the CAC facilitates two-way discussions between the school communities and the Board of Education.

Beautification:  Maintain and create an inspiring and tranquil academic environment; usually the fourth Saturday in October and Earth Day Saturday in April.

Incentives:  Find merchants willing to donate small motivational tokens for students and teachers such as coupons, gift certificates, services, etc.

Nominations:  To recognize and seek qualified nominees for the annual elected leadership of the PTSA.

Fundraising: Maintain existing sources and seek/implement new sources and partnerships for funding to supplement membership dues.  No active fundraisers such as sales of items or services.  We prefer the "painless, brainless" approach including those mentioned on the next page under "Low-Key Fundraising"

Membership: Maintain membership records, help coordinate/assist with membership drives

Parent Involvement: Work with appropriate school staff to determine needs in the school for volunteers and assist with scheduling as needed

In addition to chairs, we are also seeking committee members.  You determine your own level of commitment. If you are new to AHS or new to being involved, please consider our PTSA.
